Join us this summer for Othello, one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies and a play that has not been professionally produced in Kansas City in more than two decades. Join us in Southmoreland Park, June 17 through July 6, for this riveting story of passion, manipulation and betrayal. Othello reveals a complex world in which social order, racial politics, and personal ambitions push the treacherous Iago to destroy Othello and his wife Desdemona. The Festival will illuminate the dynamic and poetic text of Shakespeare’s masterpiece, making Othello accessible for audiences of all ages. Damon Gupton, Associate Conductor of the Kansas City Symphony and a Juilliard-trained actor, will be featured as Othello, with a cast of fifteen Kansas City actors joining him on our stage in Southmoreland Park.
